Stating that Syed Ali Geelani led Hurriyat Conference has been representing the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and has the full confidence of the oppressed people of the State, a group of resistance leaders including
Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Advocate Muhammad Shafi Reshi, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Bilal Sidiqui, Anjum Zamrooda Habib, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar and Molvi Mushtaq Ahmad in their joint statement said that Syeed Ali Geelani has been representing the Hurriyat constitution of 1993 which clearly says UN resolutions are the basis for the resolution of long standing Kashmir Issue.
They said that, “If any talks are started in future for the resolution of Kashmir Issue by India Pakistan or the international Community, the Hurriyat head by the Geelani should be included as a party.”
“The Hurriyat headed by Syed Ali Geelani is representing all the sections of society and all the provinces. Besides representing the provinces, it represents the aspirations of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and has sacrificed a lot for the implementation of the UN resolutions,” they said.
They said that India is afraid of Syeed Ali Galani’s commitment to the United Nations resolutions and peoples support to it’s leader, and due to this reason placed him under house arrest for the last 5 months. “India does not want chairman Hurriyat Conference should use Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) forum to expose the oppression and repression of India that it has been committing upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
These leaders appealed world community to take notice of continuous house arrest of Syeed Ali Galani and suspension of his passport by world’s largest so called democracy. (CNS)
